Building bridges: locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
Recognizing the importance of academic collaboration in the emerging research field of Age and Care Studies and having a strong interdisciplinary focus, the Center is committed to active research and teaching exchange. Cooperation with practice partners is particularly important to us in order to ensure a transdisciplinary exchange. Our "network of relationships" is constantly growing.

CIRAC in internal university networks
At the University of Graz, CIRAC is involved in the co-ordination of the "Aging, Demography and Care" cluster of the Heterogeneity and Cohesion research network. It also participates actively in the "In/Equalities" cluster of the profile area Dimensions of Europe.
In terms of the Faculty of Humanities’ research areas, CIRAC members are involved in the field of Perception: Episteme, Aesthetics, Politics .
Age and Care Research Group Graz
The Age and Care Research Group Graz is a network of all four universities in Graz. Founded in 2018 by Ulla Kriebernegg, it is now coordinated by CIRAC and is dedicated to future-oriented aging and care research in Graz, Styria, and beyond. The researchers work together on questions relating to demographic change, health opportunities in old age and the idea of leading a "good life" until the end of life in the form of inter- and transdisciplinary, interfaculty and interuniversity cooperation.
Researchers and lecturers from all four universities in Graz work together with partners from practice and society to analyze current problems and develop viable solutions in order to better meet current and future challenges (also known as "grand challenges") and counteract social division. Particularly important for sustainable interdisciplinary cooperation is the interdisciplinary promotion of young researchers . Joint research proposals, conference panels and events as well as teaching collaborations and the joint supervision of theses are also part of the activities.
The Age and Care Research Group Graz assumes social responsibility by speaking out against any kind of ageism in research and practice and by acknowledging the individuality and diversity of aging experiences.
Membership in the Age and Care Research Group Graz is free of charge and non-binding. Researchers and practitioners can apply for membership by sending an e-mail to cirac(at)uni-graz.at.
European Network in Aging Studies
CIRAC is part of the European Network in Aging Studies (ENAS).
The European Network of Aging Studies (ENAS) is concerned with research on cultural aging and promotes sustainable international and multidisciplinary cooperation among all researchers (from the humanities and social sciences in particular) who are interested in the study of age and aging. Through international cooperation, the organization of scientific events, the support of interdisciplinary approaches and the promotion of young researchers, ENAS contributes to the visibility of intersectional aspects and stimulates conversations between science and the public.
The research network was founded in 2010 and has its official seat in Graz. Urša Marinšek represents the University of Graz on the Executive Board. Ulla Kriebernegg and Anna-Christina Kainradl are members of the Advisory Board.
