ARM & RECH: in the focus of care work series of events to raise awareness, further education, and find solutions

Arm und Reich

Thursday, 9 November 2023, 18:30 – 21:00, Graz Museum

(Sackstraße 18, 8010 Graz)

Who is particularly affected by poverty in Graz? What are the poverty traps? Why does it particularly affect women? Where can people turn when poverty threatens? What is sufficiently available in Graz? What is missing in terms of infrastructure or legal regulations? And how would the social system need to be changed to address more care aspects?

Greeting: Sibylle Dienesch (Director Graz Museum)
Opening: Mayor Elke Kahr

Introduction by Attac Graz: “A guessing game about wealth in Austria”

“The current neoliberal system is destroying us as humans and our planet. The financial sector dominates the world. The fortunes of individuals are growing and a power elite has emerged. Our society is divided into rich and poor. And the super-rich – who are not so super – influence politics and thereby endanger democracy. With a short guessing game that everyone can take part in, we want to show how the state diverts a lot of money to the rich and what the poorer population urgently needs.” (Attac Graz)

Panel discussion with Mayor Elke Kahr, Daniela Brodesser (anti-poverty activist, author), Marianne Hammani-Birnstingl (DANAIDA association), Isabella Holzmann (Poverty Network Styria), Doris Kapeller (fair care!), Barbara Pessl (Marienambulanz), Barbara Scherer (women's service )
Moderation: Elke Edlinger (care fairly!)

Participation is free. Please register at www.fairsorgen.at, at least 5 days before the appointment.

The events are held in German.

To the flyer and press release, and the entire series program.
