Workshop on images of aging and good life in old age

Representatives of the Migrant:innenbeirat and the African Dachverband Steiermark, together with Anna Kainradl from the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Ageing and Care (CIRAC) and Brigitte Kukovetz from the Institute for Education and Educational Science at the University of Graz, offered the workshop "The children are grown up, I'm retiring ... and then?" on 22 April 2023. Together with people with a migration history, discussions about individual and social images of age(ing), existing care networks, and gaps in the care system were stimulated and deepened with the diverse expertise of these people. The ideas for further events and measures suggested in this event will help in the further work towards an caring city of Graz.

The event took place within the framework of the project "Caring-Living-Labs Graz. Designing urban caring spaces fairly, in solidarity and diversity."

Caring-Living-Labs Graz strengthens social participation and promotes health opportunities for older and very old people in precarious living situations in the city of Graz. The aim is to combine the Caring Communities approach with that of the Living Labs and thus enable the networked and needs-based development of local spaces for thinking, experimenting and action.

Project Management:  Assoz.-Prof. Dr. Klaus Wegleitner and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Annette Sprung
Funded by Health Promotion 21+ and the Healthy Austria Fund.
