Caring University: A public, interactive theatrical event format
15 December 2026, University of Graz
On Tuesday 15 December 2026, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm, the public event ‘Caring University: Strengthening a culture of care together’ will take place. This interactive theatrical format explores how care responsibilities can be reconciled with study and work at the University of Graz. It will also explore what support is available in times of existential crisis, such as illness, loss, dying, death or bereavement, and how a culture of care can be strengthened within an academic system that is often ‘carefree’.
Following a welcome address by Prof. Şebnem Bahadır-Berzig (Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Equality), Prof. Ulla Kriebernegg and Sarah Zapusek, Bakk.a MA, the focus will be on an interactive theatre format. Developed in collaboration between students and interACT, it explores experiences of care and possible courses of action within university life. Afterwards, participants will discuss real-life practices and culture and jointly develop visions for the future of a ‘Caring University Graz’.
Students, as well as interested and committed staff and management at the University of Graz, are invited to attend. Registration is not required, and participation is free of charge.
The event is organised by the Coordination Office for Gender Studies and Equality at the University of Graz, CIRAC, the Institute of Educational Science (Department of Social Pedagogy), the Institute of Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Psychology, and InterACT – Workshop for Theatre and Socioculture.
