Lecture on “Aesthetics of Care” and interdisciplinary workshop for pre- and post-docs

The lecture by Florence Borggrefe (Zurich University of the Arts and Visiting Scholar at CIRAC) and the interdisciplinary pre- and post-doc workshop focused on the field of care theories.

After an introduction by Prof. Dr. Ulla Kriebernegg, Florence Borggrefe explained the current challenges and potentials of an "aesthetics of care" and outlined considerations for the further development of this field of research. The lecture thus provided a valuable introduction to the discussions in the workshop on the following day.

This began with an introduction by the Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Sonja Rinofner, who presented both basic considerations of the term and the research contexts of this field at the University of Graz. After an online impulse by Prof. Dr. Helen Kohlen, who gave an overview of the theoretical history of the concept of care, the participants were able to discuss personal, disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The workshop and lecture were organized in cooperation with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Ageing and Care (CIRAC) and the core topic "Perception: Episteme, Aesthetics, Politics" of the Faculty of Humanities and the cluster "Aging, Demography & Care" in the research network "Heterogeneity and Cohesion" of the University of Graz, the research focus on aesthetics at Zurich University of the Arts, and the Department for Theater, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna.
