Sarah Falcus's research is in contemporary women's writing, feminism, and literary gerontology. She is the Primary Collaborator on the project 'Ageing and Illness in British and Japanese Children's Picturebooks 1950-2000: Historical and Cross-Cultural Perspectives', funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. She is also the co-director of the Dementia and Cultural Narrative Network. Her recent publications include Contemporary Narratives of Dementia: Ethics, Ageing, Politics, Contemporary Narratives of Ageing, Illness, Care (both co-edited with Katsura Sako), Age and Ageing in Contemporary Speculative and Science Fiction (co-edited with Maricel Oró-Piqueras) and The Bloomsbury Handbook to Ageing in Contemporary Literature and Film (co-edited with Raquel Medina and Heike Hartung).
