Dr. Eva-Maria Trinkaus has been elected to become the new president of the European Network in Aging Studies (ENAS).
Dr. Eva-Maria Trinkaus, Aging Studies researcher in American literary and cultural studies, has been a member of the European Network in Aging Studies since 2015, and a member of its executive board since 2019. As an active board member she co-hosted the ENAS/NANAS Bucharest Aging 2022 conference, as well as various workshops and networking events, and will represent the network for the upcoming presidential period of two years. The European Network of Aging Studies (ENAS) aims at prompting a thorough reflection on the ways in which we experience age and aging, on the cultural meanings of the aging process, and on theories and policies on aging. ENAS facilitates sustainable international and multi-disciplinary collaboration among all researchers interested in the study of age and aging, most notably from the humanities and social sciences. Through fostering collaboration and networking, promoting interdisciplinary approaches, and supporting researchers at an early stage of their career, ENAS enhances intersectional visibility and stimulates conversations between academia and the general public.
ENAS is an avid supporter of the open access, peer-reviewed journal Age, Culture, Humanities: An Interdisciplinary Journal edited by ENAS members Prof. Dr. Aagje Swinnen and Prof. Dr. Anita Wohlmann, which promotes cross-disciplinary, critical investigations of the experiences of age, aging, and old age, as seen through the lens of the humanities and arts.
